London’s Criterion Theatre has renamed its bar in honour of the venue’s former chairman, Richard Attenborough.
The Lord Attenborough Bar was unveiled on September 28 to a group of invited guests, who included Stephen Fry and Michael Attenborough, Richard’s son.
Criterion Theatre owner Sally Green said: “I’m so proud and privileged to be able to rename the Criterion’s bar in Richard’s honour. Hopefully this will help to keep his memory alive for future generations. He did a great deal of work for the theatre and on a personal level has very much been an inspiration throughout my career.”
Attenborough died in August last year.
