The Stage will be live-streaming a sold-out performance of Beware of Pity at the Barbican on February 12.
Based on a novel by Austrian writer Stefan Zweig, the Complicite and Schaubuhne co-production will be broadcast free of charge at 3pm.
The show, directed by Simon McBurney, is sold out and there are no plans to present the work in the UK again. Lasting two hours with no interval, the play is performed in German with English subtitles.
After the show, there will be the opportunity to watch a live-streamed conversation with McBurney and the Schaubuhne Berlin’s artistic director Thomas Ostermeier.
Last year, a live stream of Complicite’s The Encounter was seen by more than 67,000 viewers.
Beware of Pity is adapted by McBurney, James Yeatman, Maja Zade and the ensemble. Set design is by Anna Fleischle, costumes are by Holly Waddington, lighting is by Paul Anderson and sound is by Pete Malkin.
