Yael Farber is to make her Donmar Warehouse directing debut with a version of David Harrower’s Knives in Hens.
It forms part of the London venue’s autumn programme, which also sees Elinor Cook adapt The Lady from the Sea.
Knives in Hens will star Christian Cooke, Judith Roddy and Matt Ryan. Farber directs the first major London revival of the production since its premiere in 1995.
It has design by Soutra Gilmour, lighting by Tim Lutkin and sound by Christopher Shutt, with movement by Imogen Knight.
The production runs at the Donmar from August 17 to October 7, with press night on August 22.
Kwame Kwei-Armah returns to the Donmar, after directing One Night in Miami… in 2016, to take on The Lady from the Sea.
Cook’s new version of Ibsen’s play will star Nikki Amuka-Bird in the leading role of Ellida.
With design by Tom Scutt and lighting by Lee Curran, The Lady from the Sea runs from October 12 to December 2, with press night on October 18.
Announcing the season, artistic director Josie Rourke said: “The Donmar will once again be home to stories both epic and intimate. This autumn I am delighted to bring you two exceptional plays, celebrating world-class theatre making talent.”
The Donmar’s Young and Free scheme, which provides free tickets to those aged 25 and under, will continue throughout the season.
