85-year-old comedian Lynn Ruth Miller is living proof that the old ones are the best ones

Cabaret star Lynn Ruth Miller is a prime example that age is just a number, having started her comedy career aged 71.

The self-proclaimed “stripping granny” and “world’s oldest stand-up comedienne” is set to headline Underbelly’s Southbank Festival this year.

However, this is on the proviso that she is still alive, press representatives have said, as Miller is now approaching the ripe old age of 86.

Tabard sincerely hopes so, as her latest show, I Love Men, sounds unmissable.

In the show, Miller poses the question: does the perfect man exist, and, at the age of 85, does she need to find him?

I Love Men is described as a call to all women to “listen to their hearts and choose the life that suits them” and a gentle reminder to men that “beloved as they are, they are not superior beings”.

Miller said: “Performing at the Underbelly’s Southbank Festival is a dream come true. I have spent 16 years fighting an uphill battle to do the shows I love about the life I have managed to create. I have slammed against every glass ceiling you can imagine and only smashed through one or two.”

I Love Men will run at the Underbelly Southbank Festival’s Spiegeltent on August 18.
