Sleep No More, Punchdrunk’s immersive theatre show based on the story of Macbeth, has extended its New York run until September 5 2011.
The production opened in March 2011 at the McKittrick Hotel in New York. Like Jerusalem and War Horse, it is a UK production that has fared well in New York’s theatre awards season having won a Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience and a Special Citation For Design And Choreography at the Obie Awards.
Punchdrunk artistic director Felix Barrett commented: “Sleep No More is the Punchdrunk show that first caught the imaginations of an intrepid band of supporters in London back in 2003, when it ran for just 12 performances supported by a tiny arts council grant. It’s fantastic that the show is now so successfully showcasing Punchdrunk’s brand of immersive theatre overseas. While Sleep No More is developing an enthusiastic new audience for the company’s work in the US, Punchdrunk is looking forward to breaking brand new ground with future projects here at home in the coming months.”
Sleep No More is produced by Emursive in association with Rebecca Gold Productions.
