A new musical adaptation of 101 Dalmations will lead Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s 2020 season.
Based on Dodie Smith’s 1956 children’s novel, the musical has a book by Zinnie Harris and music and lyrics by Douglas Hodge.
Directed by Timothy Sheader, the production runs from May 16 to June 21, with press night on May 27.
It has choreography by Liam Steel, set and costume design by Katrina Lindsay, lighting by Howard Hudson, puppetry by Toby Olié, musical supervision and orchestrations by Sarah Travis and musical direction by Tarek Merchant.
The season also includes a reimagining of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel, which will reunite Jesus Christ Superstar director Timothy Sheader with choreographer Drew McOnie.
Other highlights include a production of Romeo and Juliet, directed by Kimberley Sykes, which runs from June 27 to July 25.
Nicoll Entertainment’s production of Dragons and Mythical Beasts, written by Derek Bond, will run during the day from August 11 to September 6.
