Jodie Comer is to make her West End debut in Prima Facie by Suzie Miller.
The one-person play will run at the Harold Pinter Theatre from April 15, 2022 for nine weeks, with a press night on April 27.
It is directed by Justin Martin, who most recently co-directed Together with Stephen Daldry for the BBC.
Comer will play Tessa in the play, who is described as “a young, brilliant barrister who loves to win” but who is forced to confront the “lines where the patriarchal power of the law, burden of proof and morals diverge”.
Comer said: “It’s such an honour to have been given the opportunity to work with Justin Martin, Suzie Miller and the whole team on this wonderfully unique play. I look forward to bringing Tessa to life and introducing her to the audiences at the Harold Pinter theatre next Spring.”
Producer James Bierman described Comer as “one of the most brilliant actors working today" and said "her, this play, and Justin’s team are a perfect mix”.
The show will have a ‘pay what you can’ option at each performance, which Bierman said demonstrated the show’s “commitment to making sure accessibility is at the heart of this production”. There will be 30 tickets available per performance for this scheme, with some available in advance and some on the day. At the moment, these tickets can only be booked in person at the theatre, but Bierman said he wanted "to open up more fully" how people can access the tickets in the future.
Prima Facie is produced by James Bierman for Empire Street Productions.
