Burlesque the Musical, based on the hit film starring Christina Aguilera and Cher, has landed its West End premiere this summer at the Savoy Theatre.
Featuring songs from Aguilera and fellow pop musician Sia, it will begin performances on July 10 and is scheduled to run until September 6, with a gala night on July 22.
It is written and produced by the film’s creator Steve Antin, with new music by Todrick Hall and Jess Foley, and additional material by Kate Wetherhead.
Having premiered in Manchester last year, the musical marks the first stage adaptation of the story, which follows a young girl who stumbles upon a burlesque lounge while in New York in search of her mother.
Aguilera, who is also the musical’s executive producer, said: "I’m proud that Burlesque the Musical is coming to London’s West End!
"Our journey of making this film to bringing this show to the stage has been so special and exciting. Following our successful previews, having the show land in the West End later this year is a dream come true!"
Burlesque the Musical is produced by Adam Paulden and Jason Haigh-Ellery and Sue Gilad and Larry Rogowsky, Antin, Aguilera and Clint Culpepper. Casting is still to be announced.
