Paula Hunt has been named new artistic director of the Royal Academy of Dance, replacing Lynn Wallis.
Wallis announced in September that she was stepping down from the role after 22 years, and Hunt will take up the post in January.
Hunt, currently chair of the academy’s panel of examiners, said she was “truly excited to be given this opportunity to lead on the academy’s artistic vision, uphold its integrity and promote excellence” as it moves towards its centenary.
In her new role, Hunt will continue to oversee training and mentoring of the academy’s examiners.
RAD chief executive Luke Rittner said Hunt was “renowned for her passion, energy and commitment to excellence in teaching”.
