The press night of Kathy and Stella Solve a Murder! was cancelled midway through, following a leak on stage.
The musical had its opening night at the Ambassadors Theatre on June 5, with an initial announcement in the interval informing audience members there was a delay to Act II. However, no reason was given at the time.
After a further delay, an announcement was made that the second half could not continue.
The Stage understands a faulty sprinkler system on stage caused the problems.
A statement issued on behalf of the show subsequently said: "During the interval of this evening’s press performance of Kathy and Stella Solve a Murder! there was an unexpected major water leak in Kathy’s mum’s garage (Ambassadors Theatre). Unfortunately, it was not possible to continue the performance into Act II."
The spokesperson added that performances were expected to resume as normal on June 6 and added: "We look forward to welcoming back tonight’s audience members who are having to wait a little longer than expected to find out whodunnit."
The show stars Bronté Barbé as Kathy and Rebekah Hinds as Stella. It has a book and lyrics by Jon Brittain and music and lyrics by Matthew Floyd Jones. It is co-directed by Brittain and Fabian Aloise and produced by Francesca Moody Productions, Kater Gordon, Wessex Grove and Fiery Angel.
