Director Rebecca Frecknall stepped into her own production of The Duchess of Malfi at London’s Almeida Theatre this week, after a cast member fell ill.
Frecknall stood in for Ioanna Kimbook in the role of Cariola, for two performances on December 18 and 19.
Because of her relationship to the production, she was able to cover the role without a script in hand.
Kimbook returns to the role on December 20.
Earlier this week, an actor saved Les Misérables on the first night of its reopening at the Sondheim Theatre, when the performer scheduled to play Thénardier fell ill.
Following this, Matt Lucas has been confirmed to play the role for the next six weeks.
