The Young Vic has appointed Punchdrunk’s Despina Tsatsas as its new executive director.
She joins a new leadership team at the London theatre, alongside artistic director Kwame Kwei-Armah, who succeeded David Lan last month.
Tsatsas is currently executive producer at Punchdrunk International and will join the Young Vic in the summer.
She takes over directly from interim executive director Sarah Hall, but replaces previous executive director Lucy Woollatt, who left last year.
Tsatsas said: “The Young Vic is driven by a mission to create world-class theatre for some of the most engaged and diverse audiences in the UK. Under the leadership of David Lan and Lucy Woollatt, its institutional culture has also become synonymous with artistic integrity, meaningful political engagement and a generosity of spirit.
“These values – along with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work with the hugely inspirational Kwame Kwei-Armah – made me jump at the chance to join the team.”
Tsatsas’ previous roles include executive producer at Frantic Assembly and associate producer for Mark Rubinstein Ltd, during which time she produced several shows at the Young Vic.
