Coronavirus: Stage Management Association creates buddy scheme to connect isolated theatre workers

The Stage Management Association has launched a buddy scheme for stage managers in isolation, to bring together people who are unable to work.

It is one of several digital plans from the organisation, which also include Zoom meet-ups and online training sessions.

The SMA said its buddy scheme was intended for members missing work and that it hoped participants would find comfort in having a like-minded person to chat to while theatres are closed.

Individuals wishing to take part will be paired with another stage manager and given their contact details in order to arrange times to call.

The scheme is open to SMA members only. In order to register, members should email admin@stagemanagementassociation.co.uk with their name and phone number, agreeing that it can be passed on to other members who have expressed interest.
