Battersea Arts Centre has partnered with TheaterFestival Vlaanderen in Ghent and the Nederlands Theater Festival in Amsterdam to launch a new international exchange programme.
The programme will see six performance-makers travel and meet at each other’s festivals to reflect on the shows they have seen, share their artistic practices and working conditions, discuss current international themes and trends in performance and share their ideas and observations.
Theatremaker, director, translator and dramaturg Mark Maughan and experimental performance-maker and director Hester Stefan Chillingworth are the performance-makers selected by BAC.
Mathieu Wijdeven and Maria Magdalena Kozłowska join the programme from Nederlands Theater Festival, with Musia Mwankumi and Prisca Agnes Nishimwe selected from TheaterFestival Vlaanderen.
BAC hopes the pilot scheme will be a "springboard" for involving more partner festivals in coming editions, both within and outside Europe.
At the end of the programme, a moderated discussion with the artists will take place at TheaterFestival Vlaanderen. This event will be recorded, shared and be released as a podcast.
