Jemima Levick has been appointed artistic director of the Tron Theatre, following the departure of Andy Arnold after almost 16 years in charge of the Glasgow venue.
Levick, who will take over at the theatre in April, said she was “beyond thrilled” to be appointed.
She added: “I grew up as a theatre student watching shows there, and to follow in the footsteps of arts leaders of the calibre of Michael Boyd, Neil Murray and Andy Arnold is an honour and a privilege.”
She continued: “The Tron has been creating extraordinary, landmark productions since its inception and I can’t wait to add to that canon of work.”
Born in London, Levick trained at Edinburgh’s Queen Margaret University and has previously worked as artistic director of Dundee Rep and Stellar Quines Theatre Company.

In April 2021, she was appointed artistic director of A Play, a Pie and a Pint, Glasgow’s long-running series of lunchtime plays.
She has also directed more than 42 professional productions for the National Theatre of Scotland, Edinburgh’s Royal Lyceum and Traverse Theatres, Glasgow’s Citizens Theatre and more.
Roberta Doyle, chair of the Tron Theatre’s board of directors, said: “Jemima brings a wealth of creativity experience and skill to the Tron, and she will inspire artists, audiences and participants alike in the years ahead.”
Tron Theatre executive director Patricia Stead added: “From a very strong list of candidates, Jemima stood out with her artistic vision, her understanding of the challenges ahead for Scottish producing theatre, her strong alignment with our commitment to support the theatremaking sector, and her appreciation of the Tron’s ambition to engage more with the people of Glasgow.”
On Twitter/X, A Play, a Pie and a Pint released a statement saying: “While this is sad news for our team, we can think of no one more deserving of this opportunity to lead at one of Scotland’s flagship theatres.”
