Rosamund Pike’s lead performance in the world premiere of Prima Facie writer Suzie Miller’s latest play will be broadcast live on September 4.
National Theatre Live will stream legal drama Inter Alia to cinemas across the UK, in the middle of its run.
The live broadcast will be followed by a release to cinemas around the world from September 25.
The production, which plays the National’s Lyttelton Theatre from July 10 to September 13, reunites playwright Miller with director Justin Martin after the success of Prima Facie.
It stars Rosamund Pike in her National Theatre debut as Jessica Parks, an "eminent London Crown Court judge" struggling to balance work and motherhood.
Pike is joined by actors Jamie Glover and Jasper Talbot.
Miller said: "Following the success of the National Theatre Live release of Prima Facie, which has now been seen on the big screen by 1.4 million people, I’m thrilled to have Inter Alia broadcast to cinemas.
"I’ve witnessed firsthand how NT Live can not only reach but deeply connect with and impact audiences across the world, and I hope this play will do the same."
