FacebookTwitterLinkedIn

This summer, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School invites you to take part in our programme of intensive short courses, each designed to broaden and sharpen your acting skills. These courses are open to anyone aged 18+ with an interest in acting – you may be starting out in acting and enjoy performing as a hobby, or a seasoned professional seeking to learn new approaches or refresh your knowledge.

Regardless of your background, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School offers a fun and nurturing environment in which to pursue your creative ambitions. The support and feedback available from your tutor and peers will help you develop your natural talents and confidence in acting.

Mastering Shakespeare, Monday 15 – Friday 19 July 2024 | £570 | Intermediate, age 18+

On the intermediate level Mastering Shakespeare course, you will enhance your mastery over the nuances of classical text. The five days of the course will take you through the principal elements of performing classical text, including language, vocal techniques, character psychology, physicality and movement.

You will also engage in hands-on scene work, applying the techniques learned to present individual monologues as well as ensemble scenes. The course culminates in a final showcase to demonstrate your skills in a supportive environment.

This course builds upon the foundational skills taught as part of the beginner level Acting for Classical Text course in April 2024. However, it is not mandatory to attend the beginner level courses prior to attending the intermediate course. We welcome individuals with a working knowledge of performing classical texts to sign up directly to this course.
