Investigate Shakespeare from an actor’s perspective and explore the cornerstones of RADA’s world-leading classical actor training. Launched over 50 years ago, Shakespeare Summer School is our longest-running short course and is suitable for a wide range of abilities and experiences.
You will work in a ‘company’ with a maximum of 14 people and a professional director to explore one or more of Shakespeare’s plays through detailed scene study and essential acting skills classes. The course culminates in an informal sharing with another group. You will have classes in dance, clown, mask, physical performance, stage fighting, classical acting, and a masterclass conducted by a distinguished practitioner.
During the course, you will work with students from a second company for classes in voice, sonnets, monologues, singing and Alexander Technique. There will be informal sharing’s of clown work, sonnets and monologues. The course is structured so that each participant progresses at a pace most suited to their level, and companies are chosen with this in mind.
