Musical Theatre Skills (Secondary 1-3)

This new 10-week Musical Theatre class will focus on establishing skills in acting, singing, and dancing to create a dynamic Musical Theatre performance for students Secondary 1-3.

Throughout the course, participants will delve into the fundamentals of musical theatre performance, including vocal technique, acting, dance, and stage presence. Led by seasoned instructors with extensive experience in the industry, students will receive personalised attention and guidance tailored to their individual strengths and areas for growth.

Students will work with a director, musical director, and choreographer to cover a wide range of styles, including pop music and musical theatre songs.

Collaboration will be a vital part of this course as students will work with an experienced tutor to expand their acting skills and cultivate their creativity as artists.

Through immersive workshops, rehearsals, and performances, you’ll have the opportunity to refine your craft and collaborate with fellow artists. Develop confidence, stage presence, and the skills you need to create a dynamic performance.

By the end of this course, students will:

• understand how to craft a story through use of music, movement, singing and acting.
• understand rhythm, pitch, and musicality.
• have analysed a repertoire of songs and choreography and an understanding of different styles.
• be confident in expressing their opinion, offering critical feedback, and sharing their ideas.

Credit-Rated Pathway

We are offering a credit-rated option for this class, giving students the opportunity to gain SCQF credits upon submission. This will not be mandatory; however, students can sign up for the credit-rated option by following the steps listed in Credit-Rated tab below.
