The BA (Hons) in Acting for Stage and Screen will give you fundamental skills that are necessary to become a professional actor.
You will develop your voice and body, exploring identity and learning how to assume a physicality that is sustainable and safe to endure for industry length production runs. You will learn how to be free on stage and on screen, to be released and in the moment. You will learn how to approach a script to unlock it, to find the meaning within it to unpack it and to share it with an audience to unleash it. You will learn how to research, to explore, and to share your ideas clearly and concisely. You will learn the skills to tell stories, bravely and truthfully.
With an importance of self-reflection and by using an inclusive practise of exploring self and
cultural identities, you will experience a contemporary approach to actor training. A training built on taking individual creative risks to build your personal journey into the performance industry.
What is performance? How do we create it? Who writes, tells and is missing from the stories? How
does the performer remain a vibrant force in the 21st century? How can we use ideas and questions raised by theatre, screen and performance to make sense of human engagement across the world? Using an energy encompassing intensity, passion and commitment, what can you bring to your training?
Your three years at PPA will serve you for the rest of your life. They will be demanding and will ask you to challenge yourself, but they will also be massively exciting and rewarding too. A highly qualified and vibrant faculty, all of whom have worked at the highest professional level, will teach you during your training.
