Acting Skills (Secondary 4-6)

FacebookTwitterLinkedIn

This new acting skills class for Secondary 4-6 will be an introductory course to the basics of acting. Students will study character development, textual analysis, and the work of various practitioners to hone their skills as actors.

Over 10 weeks, young people will be able to explore their creativity in a safe and supportive environment with experience-led tutors.

Exploring various acting techniques such as character development, improvisation, voice, and movement, you will develop your own skills whilst working individually and in small groups.

Throughout the year you will be led through the process of researching and rehearsing texts for performance, as well as how to research, develop and stage contemporary performance for theatre.

By the end of this course, you will have:

  • An understanding of established acting techniques including analysing text and how to create a character.
  • Analysed the tools to deliver a believable and truthful performance.
  • Investigated characterisation through voice, movement, and improvisation.
  • An established understanding of textual analysis and it’s importance.
