Acting for Camera for Beginners

Do you want to take your first steps to acting on screen? This course is for students who have little or no experience of acting for camera and is ideal for those wishing to learn more about the process. 

Using a range of commercial, television and film scripts, students will gain experience in scenes and camera set-ups.  You will develop an understanding of the more technical aspects of shooting a scene, whilst maintaining a focus on acting. You will explore techniques in active listening, spontaneity and imagination and apply these to screen work.

Course Content
•    Prepare and work on monologues, duologues and scenes from a range of television and film genres, building confidence as a performer on screen  

•    Learn about castings and auditions for film, television and commercials  

•    Develop an understanding of the technical aspects of shooting a scene and how this affects performance 

•    Explore exercises and techniques in order to remain present, imaginative and playful during multiple takes

•    Work collaboratively in a rehearsal room with the use of a handheld camera
