The Doctor, starring Juliet Stevenson, will transfer to the West End next year, it has been announced.
Robert Icke’s adaptation of Arthur Schnitzler’s Professor Bernhardi finishes its run at the Almeida Theatre, where it premiered, later this week, and will return from April 20 to July 11 at the Duke of York’s Theatre.
It marks Icke’s final production as associate director of the Almeida.
Stevenson will reprise her role in the West End transfer. She has previously starred in Icke’s productions of Mary Stuart and Hamlet, both of which ran at the Almeida before transferring to the West End.
The Doctor is designed by Hildergard Bechtler, with lighting by Natasha Chivers, sound by Tom Gibbons and casting by Julia Horan.
The show is produced in the West End by The Doctor is presented by the Almeida Theatre & Ambassador Theatre Group and Benjamin Lowy, Fiery Angel, Glass Half Full Productions, Scott Rudin and Sonia Friedman Productions.
