Raymond Gubbay has parted ways with Fiery Angel, two years after they launched a new musical entertainment company together.
The music and events impresario has formally stepped back from Fiery Angel Entertainment, the company confirmed, adding that Gubbay had left in order to complete his autobiography.
Fiery Angel Entertainment was established in 2017 by Gubbay and the West End producer Edward Snape, as an offshoot of Snape’s commercial production company Fiery Angel.
It specialises in musical and entertainment shows and since launching, the company has produced Circus 1903 on tour and at the Royal Festival Hall, where it returns for the third year this Christmas, and a semi-staged production of Guys and Dolls at the Royal Albert Hall. It is also producing the forthcoming show Rob Brydon – Songs and Stories, which begins touring this month.
Snape confirmed that Gubbay had left his director role at Fiery Angel Entertainment this month.
“Resigning from the FAE board now, at a moment where the company is in good shape, gives him the time and freedom to promote that publication as widely as possible. Raymond remains a shareholder and keen supporter of Fiery Angel Entertainment,” he said.
The company continues to be led by Snape alongside chair Luke Johnson.
Gubbay made his name producing and promoting classical music, ballet and opera events in London, including a decades-long partnership with the Royal Albert Hall. He stepped down from the company that still bears his name in 2016 after it was bought by Sony.
In an interview with The Stage in 2018, Gubbay said he thought Sony to be “remarkably ignorant about music and only interested in the bottom line”.
