The Inheritance will end its Broadway run three months earlier than planned, it has been confirmed.
The play, written by Matthew Lopez and directed by Stephen Daldry, will have its final performance on March 15. It was initially scheduled to close on June 7.
The production began previews on September 27 and opened on November 17 at the Ethel Barrymore theatre.
In a joint statement, producers Tom Kirdahy, Sonia Friedman and Hunter Arnold said: “We are all extremely proud of this production and the 32 actors who bring this ambitious story to life eight times a week and honour the legacy of those we’ve lost to the AIDS epidemic.”
“We thank all of the actors, crew, co-producers, audience members and community partners who have made this run such a milestone for everyone involved,” they added.
The Inheritance ran at the Young Vic, before transferring to the West End, and starred Vanessa Redgrave in its London run.
