Terry Gilliam’s production of Into the Woods at the Old Vic has been cancelled, The Stage can reveal.
The show had been due to run from April next year, but The Stage has now learned it will no longer be taking place.
No reason for the cancellation has yet been given, but cast and crew are said to be devastated at the decision.
The Stephen Sondheim musical, which has a book by James Lapine, was to be co-directed by Gilliam and Leah Hausman.
In a statement on its website, the Old Vic said: "The Old Vic and co-producers Scenario Two have mutually agreed that the production of Into the Woods, scheduled for spring 2022, will not take place at the Old Vic. All ticket bookers will be contacted directly. The Old Vic wishes the show well for its future life."
