Ian McKellen to voice demon in The Exorcist

Ian McKellen has been cast as the voice of the demon in the West End production of The Exorcist.

Based on William Peter Blatty’s novel and adapted by John Pielmeier, the play originally ran at Birmingham Repertory Theatre and will show at the Phoenix Theatre later this month.

Joining McKellen is the previously announced Jenny Seagrove, Peter Bowles, Adam Garcia, Todd Boyce and Elliot Harper.

Anna Fleischle designs the production, with lighting design by Philip Gladwell and composition and sound by Adam Cork.

Directed by Sean Mathias, The Exorcist will open on October 20 with booking available until March 10, 2018.

Bill Kenwright is producing the show in association with Birmingham Repertory Theatre.
