National Theatre and Headlong production People, Places and Things has been nominated for a South Bank Sky Arts award alongside the Royal Court’s production of Hangmen and Oresteia at the Almeida Theatre.
All three are nominated in the theatre category of the awards, which are hosted by Melvyn Bragg and this year take place on June 5 at the Savoy Hotel in London.
Hangmen won the best new play category at the Olivier Awards this year, which also saw People, Places and Things nominated.
In the opera section, the Royal Opera House’s Krol Roger is up against Glyndebourne’s Saul and English National Opera’s The Force of Destiny.
The dance nominees are the Royal Ballet’s Woolf Works, Northern Ballet’s 1984 and Paradise Lost, by Lost Dog Dance.
Bragg said the nominees had given “world-class performances”.
“This is the 20th of these annual awards and a ripple through the records shows an extraordinary tapestry of talent ever-changing but always the same in its high quality,” he said.
The awards will be broadcast on Sky Arts on June 8.
