Scottish comedian and actor Elaine C Smith has been awarded the outstanding achievement award at this year’s Pantomime Awards.
Smith picked up the top accolade at a ceremony held at Woking’s New Victoria Theatre on April 13, where Oxford Playhouse also received a gong for achievement in innovation.
Pantomime and musical theatre companies Evolution Productions and UK Productions each bagged three awards, with Evolution lifting the prize for best pantomime for more than 900 seats for Snow White at the Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield.
Meanwhile, Brick Lane Music Hall, in London’s Silvertown, took home the Panto Awards’ inaugural Nigel Ellacott special recognition award for pantomime history, tradition and heritage.
Named in remembrance of the dame, historian and panto industry champion who passed away last year, the award was presented to Brick Lane Music Hall in respect of its commitment to the conventions of music hall and Victorian pantomime.
Television personality Rylan Clark was pipped to the prize for best newcomer to pantomime by Owain Wyn Evans.
Simon Sladen, chair of the UK Pantomime Association, said: "Huge congratulations to all of the nominees and winners at the Pantomime Awards 2025. What a wonderful evening to celebrate excellence across the pantomime industry and salute the talent, skill, passion, craftsmanship and expertise that goes into each and every season."
