Lynette Linton has described ending her multi-year stint at the Bush Theatre as an opportunity "to do more work".
The artistic director, who leaves the building alongside associate artistic director and collaborator Daniel Bailey, said: "We’re leaving together and we are going to continue directing, working, being artists."
Asked whether the decision was about taking a break from running a physical venue, Linton clarified: "I don’t think it’s about needing a break, I think we’ve been there for six years and I’m doing quite a lot of work outside of the building.
"It’s just to do more work I think."
Speaking at The Stage Debut Awards 2024, held at 8 Northumberland Avenue in central London on September 29, Linton watched colleague Bailey receive the Best Creative West End Debut prize.
Bailey told The Stage he felt "relieved" by the win, having hoped to take home an accolade he felt recognised "all the people that contributed to Red Pitch", which transferred from Bush Theatre to @sohoplace, this year.
On his own plans for the future, Bailey teased: "I’ve got a couple of shows that are lined up that I can’t talk about just yet."
But he added: "We’re working on some versions of Red Pitch that might grace our screens at some point."
