Immersive Wolf of Wall Street to close in January

Troubled immersive production The Wolf of Wall Street is to close in January, just six weeks after its official opening night.

The show, which had a press night on November 28, will close on January 19, at the end of its current booking period.

Its closure follows an extended preview period, which producers blamed on building “setbacks” and ongoing changes to its script.

At the time, Louis Hartshorn, from production company Hartshorn – Hook, said problems had initially started when there was a delay that prevented the production from accessing its premises on August 1, as had been planned.

Hartshorn said the company had not been able to get into the building until August 26, and claimed that the site was in an “unfinished state”, including not being properly water sealed, meaning an “already delayed production schedule was further delayed by flooding on three occasions in September”.

He added that since the show had opened to the public for previews, there had been changes required and described the script as “in flux”.

The Wolf of Wall Street is the latest immersive production to suffer an early closure, after Variant 31 shut its doors weeks into its run, blaming technical issues.
