Grassroots Shakespeare London is to become the first resident theatre company at the Leicester Square Theatre.
The company will take up its new home at the venue with a production of Twelfth Night, which will star John Pickard, Richard Soames and Ellie Nunn.
Grassroots has claimed the move makes it the first Shakespeare theatre company to be resident in central London since the Royal Shakespeare Company.
The theatre company, which previously staged Othello at the Leicester Square Theatre in 2014, will create a number of new shows at the theatre, as well as hosting workshops at the venue.
Artistic director and producer Siobhan Daly said Grassroots was “delighted” at becoming the theatre’s resident company.
“We are excited to have this opportunity to keep bringing great quality, accessible productions to our audiences. We are looking forward to celebrating Shakespeare 400 with our new show and our great cast,” she said.
Twelfth Night will run at the Leicester Square Theatre from April 5 to 30, with press night on April 12.
