Glenn Close will not perform in Sunset Boulevard for a second night in a row due to illness, according to English National Opera.
The actor was unable to perform in the musical at the Coliseum last night, and was replaced by understudy Ria Jones. It has now been confirmed she will not appear in tonight’s performance (April 22).
A spokeswoman explained to The Stage that Close has “a touch of the flu”, and it is hoped she will be well enough to perform from tomorrow (April 23).
The talented @RiaJones67 will be on again as Norma this evening. Wishing @TheGlennClose a speedy recovery! https://t.co/l17SmDguhx

Several news outlets reported there was some booing when last night’s audience was told Close would not appear. The show also started 20 minutes late. Actor Kieran Brown said he was “disgusted and ashamed” at the audience’s behaviour.
Disgusted at & ashamed of scumbags masquerading as theatregoers who booed when announced that “name” wasn’t on @E_N_O tonight. Shame on you
