East London Dance has revealed details of a new £4.1 million creative hub in Stratford that includes two dance studios and five music production studios.
The Talent House on Stratford’s Sugar House Island will bring East London Dance and London-based organisation UD, which champions black music culture, together under one roof.
Located in a former warehouse with a modern extension, the purpose-built Talent House will span three floors.
It will be a permanent home for East London Dance – which offers performances, events, classes and projects to different age groups – and UD. The premises will provide facilities for young people and local communities.
More than 2,100 hours of free access to the building and its facilities will be made available to locally based independent artists every year.

Designed by Waugh Thistleton with internal design by architect Katy Marks, the creative hub comprises two dance studios, five music production/recording studios, a live room and two vocal booths, a large flexible rehearsal/events space and a tech lab for education and training.
There is also a canteen and co-working area and a central atrium that will function as the Talent House’s main reception and as a space for dance jams and informal gigs.
The Talent House will open in the autumn, with the aim of engaging more than 12,000 people every year with a public programme co-curated with artists, young people and local residents.
East London Dance chief executive Polly Risbridger said: "We have been championing and growing east London’s dance scene for over three decades and we’re thrilled to call this incredible new building home and be able to welcome in our local communities."
Supporters of the project include Arts Council England, Greater London Authority, London Legacy Development Corporation, London Borough of Newham, Vastint UK, Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund, which is funded by Westfield Stratford City and delivered by Foundation for Future London, and the London Marathon Charitable Trust.
East London Dance and UD are continuing to fundraise a final £350,000 to reach the £4.1 million target for the Talent House.
