Musical Daddy Long Legs and a stage adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s The Butterfly Lion will form part of the Barn Theatre’s 2019 season.
The Cirencester venue, which last week was named best fringe theatre at The Stage Awards 2019, will also produce new productions of Shakespeare’s Henry V and comic thriller The 39 Steps.
Artistic director Iwan Lewis said the theatre’s mission was to “produce challenging and inspiring professional theatre of the highest standards” and said the 2019 season reflected that commitment.
Daniel Buckroyd’s adaptation of The Butterfly Lion opens the season, in a version directed by Jessica Daniels, with Henry V running after.
The 39 Steps will run from July, with Daddy Long Legs, directed by Kirstie Davies, opening in October. It is written by John Caird, with music and lyrics by Paul Gordon.
A Christmas Carol completes the season, directed by Lewis. Charles Dickens’ novel is adapted by Alan Pollock.
