PlayAI, a theatrical project written by artificial-intelligence chatbot ChatGPT, is to premiere at Riverside Studios this month.
The show is cited as: "A thrilling unique theatrical project, written by ChatGPT (an AI model that interacts in a conversational way) that seeks to prompt a conversation about the future of our industry and the relationship it will have with AI."
It hopes to start a conversation about the future of the industry and the relationship it will have with AI.
PlayAI is produced by Metatheto Theatrical and will be directed by Matt Bond, with casting by Pearson Casting and general management by Jack Maple Productions.
PlayAI will run for four performances across April 28 and 29.
Bond said: "Our hope is that AI augments the work of industry professionals and it is a technological revolution that, although we may not be able to accurately predict what it will look like in 10 years’ time, we will be living with.
"AI in 2023 is looking very much like 2007 and the advent of mass social media and the iPhone."
The production aims to push the boundaries of what AI can do in theatremaking with AI suggesting the lighting, sound and set design for the production.
A panel will be held after the final performance to discuss the project with the panellists, yet to be announced.
Metatheato is a new theatre production company established in 2022 by Matt Bond.
