The Lyric Hammersmith’s production of Bugsy Malone is being revived for a UK tour next year.
Directed by Sean Holmes and choreographed by Drew McOnie, the show will open at the Theatre Royal Bath next July ahead of a national tour, produced by Theatre Royal Bath Productions, Birmingham Rep and Kenny Wax.
It is being billed as the first professional touring production of the stage musical in the UK.
Bugsy Malone is based on the 1976 film by Alan Parker, and has songs by Paul Williams.
The production is designed by Jon Bausor, while musical supervision and arrangements are by Phil Bateman.
It premieres in Bath on July 12, running until July 23, followed by a run at Birmingham Rep from July 27 to August 14.
Tour locations include Southampton’s Mayflower, with further theatres and dates to be announced.
The Lyric Hammersmith production reopened the London theatre after a £20 million redevelopment in 2015, and later returned for repeat performances in 2016.
