BECTU is partnering with English National Opera for the first time, to provide a funded work experience placement for a young person.
Attendees of the entertainment union’s Find Your Future careers event will be invited to register for an application pack.
The successful applicant will be invited to complete a week’s placement at ENO after finishing school.
The placement, which includes a £250 subsistence and travel bursary, is open to young people aged 16-24, who are not entering higher education.
BECTU’s young worker project organiser Paula Lamont said: “We want to support young people not pursuing higher education in achieving their career aspirations.
“By offering this high profile event, young people get essential face-to-face time with employers looking for the next generation in the UK’s burgeoning creative industries across media and entertainment.
“By introducing our first ever bursary with the English National Opera this year, we hope it will inspire young people to come along, find out more and network with the fantastic roster of employers attending.”
The careers event will take place early next month.
