Ambassador Theatre Group has signed an exclusive three-year deal with Bad Robot Live, the new theatrical division of the company formed by filmmaker JJ Abrams, to bring shows to both the West End and Broadway.
The partnership will see ATG work with Abrams to bring content from his newly formed Bad Robot Live to the stage, with ATG saying Bad Robot Live would have "the opportunity to collaborate on those projects with ATG Productions".
News of the tie-up comes after ATG announced it would "combine operations" with Broadway theatre owner and producer Jujamcyn, in a move that would add five venues to its growing global portfolio.

The statement said ATG and Jujamcyn would offer "producing partners an increasingly varied venue portfolio".
Speaking about the new partnership with Bad Robot Live, which is being headed by Manhattan Theatre Club’s Elizabeth Rothman, ATG chief executive Mark Cornell said: "We have long sought to partner with the most innovative and imaginative forces to help create new content for the stage and Bad Robot Live, under JJ Abrams’ visionary leadership, is a perfect match for our producing arm."
He added: "Our goal is to collaborate with and empower their incredible team, and support what they do so incredibly well: captivate global audiences.”
Abrams, whose screen projects include TV series such as Lost and Alias, and films such as Super 8 and Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, said: “We couldn’t feel luckier to be partnering with ATG. Their accomplishments, accolades and stats speak for themselves, but what makes us most excited are the people. The chance to work alongside Mark Cornell, Kristin Caskey, Adam Speers and their talented team on creating riveting live entertainment is both humbling and genuinely thrilling."
The announcement marks the debut of Bad Robot Live, which has been developing a slate of new plays, musicals and immersive events for theatre, including on Broadway and the West End.
The first joint project under the new ATG and Bad Robot Live partnership is Liz Kingsman’s solo show One Woman Show, which recently played at the Ambassadors Theatre in London.
One Woman Show was co-produced by Wessex Grove and ATG Productions, with Bad Robot Live bringing the show to the US in 2023.
Bad Robot was formed by Abrams in 2001. Abrams has previously co-produced The Play That Goes Wrong, Magic Goes Wrong, The Secret and Oh God, A Show About Abortion.
