The winners of The Stage Scholarship 2024 in collaboration with All In Actors have been announced as Lucy Addley-Nichols and Esther Agbakwuru.
Lucy will receive a full scholarship that covers her training fees, while Esther will benefit from a half-scholarship. Both awards cover training on the part-time ACT 3 course and, in financial terms, the value of both these opportunities is £6,750.
In an age where a versatile training programme is important, All In Actors offers students part-time tuition so that they can work and train at the same time. Lucy, who is a 24-year-old from south-east London, is already one term in to the ACT 3 course and loving every minute of it.
“I come from quite an academic background in terms of my family and the schools they went to. However, my mum and my sister were always insanely supportive. Drama has always been a passion – where I found the most fulfilment. I found myself defending the arts sometimes, being in environments where it wasn’t valued as much as more academic paths.”
Recommended to start auditioning by acting coach Pippa Moss, Lucy auditioned for All In Actors on Zoom with co-principals Stephen Sobal and Ami Sayers and was really encouraged by the trajectory of the online meeting.
“The Zoom call ended up being an hour long. It was just such a fulfilling, interesting and inspiring conversation talking to Ami and Stephen. I was excited to get the direction from them rather than feeling like I needed to present a certain thing. It was very two-way.”
‘All In Actors is pushing me outside of my comfort zone. I am enjoying it and being able to grow and learn from that space’ – Esther Agbakwuru
Esther, who is also 24 years old and currently lives in Southwark, first came across All In Actors when she was researching extra drama training online.
“I’d done some training with ActUpNorth in Manchester and then online with Identity School of Acting, but not in the capacity that I’m doing now.
“We started with clowning and improv, which are a bit outside my comfort zone because it’s not something that I am familiar with.
“I’m very much a script kind of person, but I really enjoy it. All In Actors is pushing me outside of that comfort zone. I am enjoying it and being able to grow and learn from that space.”
Both Lucy and Esther are working alongside classes at All In Actors, where the ACT 3 course provides 756 hours of training over the academic year.
