Mind-expanding, never patronising: the Egg is a children’s theatre on a mission

One of the UK’s few purpose-built theatres for children, the Egg works with experimental fringe directors and has courted controversy with some of its thought-provoking programming, but its work is striking a chord with local kids, its director tells Rosemary Waugh
