Four thousand youngsters to sing in Beatles concert at the O2

Published Monday 1 December 2008 at 13:15 by Alistair Smith

Four thousand schoolchildren aged between 12 and 14 are to perform in a concert at the O2 Arena celebrating the music of the Beatles next year.

Organised by Voices for a Better World, The Long and Winding Road concert will take place on June 24, 2009, at the Greenwich venue and will feature youngsters from 80 schools and choirs. Proceeds raised from the performance will help fund two charities - Global Angels and Arts by Children.

Pop singer and ambassador for Global Angels Natasha Bedingfield said: “Music is a universal language. It is extremely important for kids to get involved in music, to realise that everyone has a voice - something to say that makes a difference to everyone around. Voices for a Better World gives them a chance to express themselves in a positive way by helping other people in the process.”

Schools or choirs wishing to take part should visit www.voicesforabetterworld.com.
